Ordering & Process

How do I order a lab test?

Ordering is simple and takes just a few minutes:

  • Browse our test catalog and add the tests you need to your cart.
  • Check out securely online with a credit or debit card.
  • Receive your lab requisition form via email (usually within minutes).
  • Visit any partner draw center near you for your blood draw. No appointment needed at most locations.
  • Get results in your secure online portal within 1-3 business days.

Do I need a doctor's order to get tested?

No. Every order placed through Cash Price Labs is reviewed and authorized by a licensed physician as part of our service. You do not need to visit a doctor or bring a prescription. The physician authorization is included in the price of your test.

If you already have a doctor's order, you can also upload it during checkout to use with our service.

Where do I go to get my blood drawn?

After placing your order, you will receive a lab requisition form along with instructions on visiting a partner draw center. We work with major laboratory networks that have thousands of locations across all 50 states.

Most locations accept walk-ins during business hours. You simply present your requisition form and ID at the draw center. The phlebotomist will collect your sample, and you are done in minutes.

Do I need to fast before my test?

It depends on the test. Some tests, like a lipid panel or comprehensive metabolic panel, require fasting for 9-12 hours before your blood draw (water is usually fine). Other tests, like a CBC or thyroid panel, do not require fasting.

Each test page on our website clearly states whether fasting is required and for how long. When in doubt, fasting is generally safe for most tests and can improve accuracy.

Can I order tests for someone else (spouse, child, parent)?

Yes, you can order tests for another adult family member. During checkout, you will be able to enter the patient information for the person being tested. The person getting tested will need to present a valid photo ID at the draw center.

For patients under 18, please note that parental consent is required and a parent or legal guardian must accompany the minor to the draw center. Not all tests are available for minors — check individual test pages for age restrictions.

Pricing & Payment

Why are your prices so much lower than hospitals?

Hospitals add multiple layers of markup to lab tests: facility fees, physician ordering fees, processing surcharges, and insurance-negotiated rates that can inflate the cost by 500% or more.

We partner directly with CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited laboratories and negotiate volume discounts on your behalf. By keeping our process simple — no insurance paperwork, no complex billing departments — we keep overhead low and pass those savings directly to you. The price you see is the price you pay.

Are there any hidden fees or surprise charges?

Absolutely not. The price you see on our website is the total price you pay. There are no hidden fees, no draw fees, no facility fees, and no surprise bills. Your price includes:

  • Physician authorization for your order
  • The lab requisition form
  • Blood draw at a partner draw center
  • Lab processing and analysis
  • Secure online results delivery

The only exception is if your draw center is located in a state that charges a separate specimen collection fee, which is rare and would be disclosed upfront.

Can I use my health insurance?

Cash Price Labs is a cash-pay service. We do not bill insurance. In many cases, our cash prices are actually lower than what you would pay through insurance after deductibles and copays.

You may be able to submit your paid receipt to your insurance company or HSA/FSA administrator for potential reimbursement. We provide detailed receipts that include CPT codes, which insurance companies typically require. However, reimbursement is not guaranteed and depends on your specific plan.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) through our secure Stripe payment processing. You can also use FSA and HSA debit cards at checkout.

All transactions are encrypted with 256-bit SSL security, and we never store your full credit card number on our servers.

Do you offer volume discounts for multiple tests?

Yes! We offer automatic bundle discounts when you order multiple tests:

  • 2+ tests: 10% off your order
  • 5+ tests: 15% off your order
  • 10+ tests: 20% off your order

Discounts are applied automatically at checkout. You can also save by ordering pre-built panels, which bundle commonly ordered tests together at a reduced price.

Results & Privacy

How long does it take to get my results?

Most test results are available within 1-3 business days after your sample is collected at the draw center. Some specialized tests (certain hormone panels, allergy panels, or genetic markers) may take 5-7 business days.

You will receive an email notification as soon as your results are ready to view. Simply log into your secure online portal to access them.

How do I access my results?

Your results are delivered to your secure online portal at cashpricelabs.com. When you create your account, you will set up login credentials that you use to access your results anytime.

Results include your test values, the reference ranges, and clear indicators showing whether your values are normal, high, or low. You can view, download, or print your results at any time. You can also share them directly with your healthcare provider.

Is my health information private and secure?

Yes, absolutely. We take your privacy extremely seriously. All of your personal health information is protected by:

  • HIPAA compliance — We follow all federal privacy and security standards for protected health information.
  • 256-bit SSL encryption — All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted.
  • Secure data storage — Health records are stored on encrypted servers with strict access controls.
  • No data selling — We never sell, share, or rent your personal or health information to third parties.

For more details, see our Privacy Policy.

Will my results be sent to my doctor?

Not unless you want them to be. Your results are delivered only to you through your secure online portal. You have full control over who sees your results.

If you want to share your results with a healthcare provider, you can easily download or print them from your portal and take them to your appointment. We also offer a "Share with Provider" feature that lets you send results directly via secure email.

Medical & Safety

Are your lab tests the same quality as a hospital or doctor's office?

Yes. All of our partner laboratories are CLIA-certified (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments), which means they meet the same federal quality standards as labs used by hospitals and doctor offices. In fact, many of our partner labs process tests for major hospitals and healthcare systems.

The only difference is the price. By going direct, we eliminate the markup layers that make the same test cost 5-10x more through traditional channels.

Should I consult a doctor about my results?

We strongly recommend it. While your results will include reference ranges and clear indicators, a qualified healthcare provider can interpret your results in the context of your complete health history, symptoms, medications, and other factors.

Lab results are one piece of the health puzzle. A doctor can help you understand what your numbers mean and recommend any follow-up testing or treatment that may be needed. If any of your results are significantly abnormal, we encourage you to contact your healthcare provider promptly.

What if my results show something concerning?

If any of your test results fall outside the normal reference range, they will be clearly flagged in your results report. Here is what we recommend:

  • Do not panic. Slightly abnormal results are common and can be caused by many factors including diet, hydration, medications, and timing.
  • Schedule a follow-up with your healthcare provider to discuss the results in context.
  • For critical values, our reviewing physician will be notified, and you may receive a direct notification recommending you seek medical attention.

Remember: Cash Price Labs provides lab testing services, not medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider for medical interpretation and treatment decisions.

Are there any tests I cannot order directly?

Most lab tests can be ordered directly through our platform. However, there are some limitations:

  • State restrictions: A small number of states have laws that restrict direct-to-consumer lab testing. We clearly indicate any state-specific restrictions on each test page.
  • Controlled substances: Certain drug-related tests may have additional ordering requirements.
  • Age restrictions: Some tests are not available for patients under 18.

If you are unsure whether a specific test is available in your state or situation, feel free to contact our support team and we will be happy to help.
